Huliak: We Kick-started Tourism, It Was Dormant Until Now

(JOJ 24,'Politika 24', March 30) Tourism has been dormant until now, but the Tourism and Sport Ministry under the new leadership managed to kick-start it, Tourism and Sport Minister Rudolf Huliak (Independent) said on JOJ 24's discussion programme 'Politika 24' (Politics 24) on Sunday. "I started immediately, I didn't wait for some 100 days for my work at the Tourism and Sport Ministry to be evaluated. The National Coalition really grasped it all at once and from day one we made personnel changes and kickstarted the travel industry, which was sleeping until now," said Huliak, adding that the fund intended for the tourism support has been operational since January 1, 2025, but hasn't done anything yet. Huliak said that sport should undergo change as well. He wants to focus on building its infrastructure for athletes who lack adequate training conditions in Slovakia and therefore, have to train abroad. He wants to build three modern athletics arenas. Huliak stated that the government is currently stable. His National Coalition party is a part of this government and will fully support it. The conflicts that existed in the coalition resulted in personnel changes at the Tourism and Investment Ministries, with the government agreeing on them, averting thus the coalition crisis. He views these personnel changes as the result of achieving political justice and a fair redistribution of power. Concerning armament and sending soldiers beyond the country's borders, for example to Ukraine, where a military conflict with Russia is currently taking place, Huliak disagrees with NATO dictating to Slovakia how and how much it should spend on armaments. ko
