Hlina: SaS Repeatedly Pointed to Failures in Foot-and-mouth Disease Measures

Bratislava, March 31 (TASR) - The opposition Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) party has repeatedly pointed to failures in measures to prevent the spread of foot-and-mouth disease, SaS MP Alojz Hlina said on Monday, expressing regret that experts from the opposition aren't invited to a dialogue on these measures. "We have time to find the culprits, we have time to punish, but now the priority is to focus on what to do and how to protect as many animals as possible," stressed Hlina. SaS drew attention to several mistakes in dealing with foot-and-mouth disease, with one of them being the transport of dead animals. "At first there was talk of hermetic bags, but in the end the carcasses were transported in leaky vehicles. And now not even in special vehicles for transporting carcasses, but in containers originally designed for firefighting electric cars. I understand that crisis situations require improvisation, but safety measures must not be underestimated," emphasised Hlina. am
