Komarno, April 1 (TASR) - Health Minister Kamil Sasko (Voice-SD) said in Komarno (Nitra region) on Tuesday that he wants to negotiate cross-border cooperation with the Hungarian health minister and that a meeting should be held by the Easter holiday. The talks should be aimed at three main topics that have a direct impact on the quality of life and availability of health care for residents of the whole border region, said Sasko. According to the minister, the most important topic will be cross-border cooperation in the field of emergency medical services. "This is an area that is extremely important from the viewpoint of the availability of emergency services. Slovakia has already sent a draft agreement on cooperation in this field to the Hungarian side, and I think that it could be concluded soon," stated Sasko. The second area of potential cooperation is the possibility of issuing e-prescriptions, while the third is the provision of health care itself. Sasko sees the signing of an agreement on e-prescriptions as realistic in 2026. "We also want to make headway in the field of hospital care, but that can't be done in a week, or even a month. Hungary will take over the V4 presidency as of the beginning of July, and I'd like this to be a key issue that we'll manage to use during that presidency," said the minister. According to Sasko, financing is subject to agreement, as the situation in each country is different. "If I'm not mistaken, Hungary has a single health-insurance company, while we have several. I can confirm that the chief of our state-run health insurance company will be in my delegation at the talks with the Hungarian minister and that we'll discuss this issue," said the minister. ko/df
