Bratislava, April 2 (TASR) - Slovakia borrowed €5.868 billion through the sale of government bonds in the first three months of this year, borrowing over €1 billion in this way in March alone, according to the latest monthly report published by the Debt and Liquidity Management Agency (ARDAL) on Wednesday.
Total government bond issue for this year is planned at €12 billion.
In March, Slovakia borrowed €550.8 million through a traditional monthly auction of government bonds with maturity periods between 2033-2051. Total demand in the auction was €1.334 billion. The average accepted yield to maturity ranged from 3.407 percent p.a. to 4.175 percent p.a.
In addition, the state sold new government bonds amounting to €500 million to the public in March. Two types of bonds were available for sale: a two-year Investor bond with a 3 percent interest rate and a four-year Patriot bond with an interest rate amounting to 3.3 percent p.a.
ARDAL plans to hold a government bond auction in April as well. Due to the Easter holiday, the traditional Monday date will be shifted to Tuesday, April 22.
