Bratislava, April 3 (TASR) - A doctor from the plastic-surgery clinic at Ruzinov Hospital in Bratislava has tested positive for an illegal substance, Bratislava University Hospital (UNB) spokesperson Eva Kliska informed TASR on Thursday, adding that the hospital terminated the doctor's contract with immediate effect. This is the second positive result from a toxicology test at this clinic within a month. "As part of preventive measures, UNB director Alexander Mayer on April 2 ordered toxicological testing of all doctors working at the plastic-surgery clinic of Ruzinov Hospital. This was the second toxicological testing to be carried out at the clinic within a month, with one doctor testing positive for an illegal substance during it," said Kliska. Mayer and dean of Comenius University's Medical Faculty Juraj Payer also dismissed the head of the plastic-surgery clinic, who is responsible for running the workplace and the work of his subordinates. "I strongly condemn such irresponsible behaviour among doctors. If there is a suspicion that any of our employees are under the influence of alcohol or drugs, I will take action in a strict and uncompromising manner," said Mayer. However, he doesn't view it as correct to generalise the behaviour of medical staff based on the failures of individuals. According to him, there are still honest and decent health-care professionals working at UNB who care about the health and lives of their patients, and they will always enjoy his full trust and support. ko/df
