Culture Ministry: Selection Procedure for Slovak National Theatre Head Scrapped

Bratislava, April 3 (TASR) - The Culture Ministry has cancelled the selection procedure for the post of Slovak National Theatre (SND) general director, the ministry has reported on its website, adding that this happened based on Culture Minister Martina Simkovicova's (a Slovak National Party/SNS nominee) decision without providing further details. "We'll inform the public about further procedures, and the ministry will proceed in accordance with the law in relation to the filling the post of general director," the ministry states on its website, adding that SND's management and activities have continued as normal. The Culture Ministry announced the selection procedure for the post of SND general director on February 5, and candidates had the opportunity to apply until February 15. The actual selection procedure in front of the evaluation commission was to take place at the end of March. The conditions and the deadline for submitting applications were criticised by some SND employees, who stated that the candidates didn't have enough time to prepare a serious concept for managing and developing SND within the ten-day deadline, which was one of the conditions for candidates to apply for selection. Since the end of August last year, Zuzana Tapakova has been SND's general director on a temporary basis. am/df
