Bratislava, April 3 (TASR) - The Economy Ministry will have access to socio-economic data of the population on request, based on which it will assess the need for compensating energy costs, according to a new law on the provision of data for the purpose of targeted energy assistance that MPs finally approved on Thursday.
Lawmakers discussed the bill via a fast-tracked legislation procedure.
The Economy Ministry will thus be able to request certain data from the land registry, Financial Administration (the tax office), social-security provider Socialna poistovna and the information systems of energy-distribution companies.
"The aim of data collection and analysis is to create and complete a logically structured database operated by the ministry, which will be transformed into a comprehensive information system for assessing the vulnerability of individual households to energy poverty and the degree of their vulnerability, while creating a register of consumption points with all relevant data necessary for introducing a system of targeted energy assistance," stated the Economy Ministry.
The law will enter into force on the date of promulgation.
