Liptovsky Mikulas, April 4 (TASR) - The 80th anniversary celebrations of the liberation of Liptovsky Mikulas (Zilina region) will last three days, city's spokesperson Romana Nemcova stated on Friday.
The programme for the three-day event begins on Friday at 3.00 p.m. The Czechoslovak historical unit will assemble in front of the M. M. Hodza Grammar School, offering passers-by a view reminiscent of famous historical photographs. Soldiers with combat equipment will then move to the Liberators' Square, where a solemn wreath-laying ceremony will take place.
On Saturday (April 5), a programme will be available for all ages. "Period battles will take place around the memorial at Haj Nicovo, performed by military history societies. Therefore, those who choose to attend this event will be able to see aircraft, witness 120 soldiers fighting, view a historical field kitchen where food was prepared for the soldiers, try shooting with blank cartridges, and also walk through trenches as they were 80 years ago," explained city's mayor Jan Blchac.
