Speaking on Joj 24's discussion programme 'Politika 24' (Politics 24) on Sunday, head of the Investment, Regional Development and Informatisation Ministry Samuel Migal (Independent) said that he sees the opportunity to lead the ministry as a sign of trust of Premier Robert Fico (Smer-SD).
"I take it as a certain expression of confidence that despite my frequent criticism of the prime minister's or the government's moves, I'm given the opportunity to prove that it can be done differently and have results that the Investment Ministry hasn't had so far," said Migal, stressing that he considers himself to be an independent nominee in the ministerial position, who also has the ambition to be a kind of "bridge" between the coalition and the opposition, and thus contribute to reducing tension, even aversion between political opponents, which is behind the growing polarisation of the entire society. He believes that the best laws can be made by being open to proposals from both the coalition and the opposition. "Good legislative proposals emerge on both sides," he emphasised.
Migal continues to stand by his critical stance towards the direction of the Voice-SD party and remains convinced that under its current leadership it has abandoned the ideals of its founder and current President Peter Pellegrini.
