Bratislava, April 7 (TASR) - The coalition Slovak National Party (SNS) rejected accusations from House Vice-chair Tibor Gaspar and Finance Minister Ladislav Kamenicky (both from Smer-SD) that SNS leader Andrej Danko is aligning with the opposition, with the Progressive Slovakia (PS) party in particular, over his proposal to abolish the transaction tax The SNS stated that it's actually Smer-SD that votes with PS in Parliament. The party also stressed that it follows the coalition agreement and will work to convince its partners of the need to limit or abolish the transaction tax. According to SNS, savings in the state budget can be achieved by reducing defence spending. Gaspar stated on social media that Danko is increasingly heading towards a political alliance with the opposition and PS, rather than cooperating within the coalition. He criticised him for proposing the abolition of the transaction tax, which was meant to significantly help the state budget. Kamenicky also sent a message to Danko, urging him not to help the opposition. He reminded him that he was involved in the discussions about introducing the transaction tax and that he himself voted in favor of it. He stated that abolishing the tax would result in a loss of €700 million. "The opposition is trying to make the transaction tax out to be a 'boogeyman.' I reject this and announce that the transaction tax is working, and its effects are being inflated in a populist way," Kamenicky satted on social media. lin
