Police: 16 Border Crossings with Hungary and One with Austria Temporarily Closed

Bratislava, April 7 (TASR) - As part of measures to prevent the spread of foot-and-mouth disease, 16 border crossings with Hungary and one with Austria will be temporarily closed, while temporary controls will be introduced at other border crossings from Tuesday (April 8) until midnight on May 7, the police stated on social media. The temporarily closed border crossings with Hungary are: Cunovo - Rajka, Radvannad Dunajom - Neszmely, Chlaba - Ipolydamasd, Salka - Letkes, Ipeljske Predmostie - Dregelypalank, Vrbovka - Ohrhalom, Trenc - Raros - Rarospuszta, Lenartovce - Banreve, Dlha Ves/Domica - Aggtelek, Kechnec - Abaujvar, Trstene pri Hornade - Keked, Skaros - Hollohaza, Michalany - Alsoregmec, Streda nad Bodrogom - Karos, Velky Hores - Nagyrozvagy, and Velke Trakany - Zemplenagard. The temporarily closed border crossing with Austria is Zahorska Ves - Angern. "Although the occurrence of foot-and-mouth disease hasn't been confirmed in the territory of Austria so far, due to the geographical areas where the disease has been reported, it's necessary to temporarily reinstate controls at the internal borders with Austria," stated the Interior Ministry. lin
