Prague, April 7 (TASR-correspondent) - As of Tuesday Bila-Bumbalka – Makov border crossing between the Czech republic and Slovakia, will be closed for the transport of animals, animal products, and feed, but will remain open for vehicles carrying other goods, the Czech State Veterinary Administration (SVS) stated on Monday.
Last week, the Czech Republic decided that animals, animal products, and feed could only be transported from Slovakia through five border crossings, including the Bila-Bumbalka – Makov crossing. However, this will no longer be possible, as the steepness of the road there prevents the installation of disinfectant baths and disinfectant frames.
Lorries heading to the Czech republic are always inspected by SVS employee, and based on the results of the inspection, the vehicle undergoes one of three possible decontamination methods. Most of them pass over disinfectant mats. Vehicles deemed risky by SVS undergo a disinfectant bath, while the highest-risk ones go through a decontamination line.
