Bratislava, April 9 (TASR) - The coalition will be united in supporting the government's draft amendment to the Constitution, Slovak National Party (SNS) leader and House Vice-chair Andrej Danko stated on Wednesday when asked about support for the proposal during the vote in Parliament, which is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
"The coalition is united in its support for this proposal. As for the things that are included in it, I think that Slovak society needs a definition of the things that have been mentioned there. I think it's a good topic, and we in SNS have no problem with it," he said at a press conference.
Parliament is due to vote on two amendments to the Constitution on Wednesday. One was tabled by the government and the other by the opposition KDH. The cabinet has proposed enshrining in the Constitution the existence of two genders - male and female - and equality between men and women in pay for work done. It also wants to include provisions on child adoption and education. In addition, the proposal aims to establish Slovak sovereignty on matters of values and cultural and ethical issues.
