Bratislava, April 11 (TASR) - Slovakia's construction output amounted to €501 million in February 2025, up 3.4 percent year-on-year (y-o-y), the Statistics Office reported on Friday.
The sector posted output growth for the fourth month in a row.
Seasonally adjusted, construction output remained almost unchanged from the previous month.
The overall result was positively influenced by 2.7-percent growth of the dominant new construction sector, while repairs and maintenance construction work rose by 2.2 percent. A more than one-third drop in the relatively small component of other construction work had a dampening effect on the overall figure. Domestic construction output accounted for 88 percent of total construction output.
Concerning the type of construction, output growth was driven by a 5-percent increase in work on civil-engineering structures, which posted growth following nine months of declines. However, the dominant construction of buildings reported a slight decline of 0.3 percent in February.
Meanwhile, the overall result was also positively influenced by the output of Slovak construction firms abroad, which went up by one quarter in February. Its share of total construction output grew to almost 12 percent.
In the first two months of 2025, construction output amounted to almost €937 million, going up by 5.1 percent y-o-y. Output in the decisive new construction sector increased by 2.2 percent, while repairs and maintenance rose by 1.9 percent. The volume of construction work carried out by Slovak firms abroad was up by one half when compared to the level reported for January-February 2024.
