Liberation80: Handlova to Mark 80th Anniversary of Liberation with Night Run

Handlova, April 11 (TASR) - The town of Handlova (Trencin region) will mark the 80th anniversary of its liberation with a night run, town spokesperson Jana Paulinyova has informed TASR. The 42nd annual Handlova Liberation Run will take place on Friday evening, with 82 runners from various age categories, including children, set to take part. "The organisers decided to hold this traditional event in a slightly different way. The reason for organising a night run was to make the event more attractive and bring something new to Handlova," said Paulinyova. The run will begin at 6:30 p.m. with registration of the participants, with the start of the first children's category scheduled for 7:40 p.m. "Adults will run five kilometres, children between 850 and 1,000 metres and juveniles 3 kilometres," said the spokesperson. The organisers, who are the town of Handlova, Handlova Leisure Centre, the Achilles Handlova Sports Club and Handlova Automotoklub, will award the first three competitors in each category. ko/df
