Nitra/Bratislava, April 11 (TASR) - The Military History Club (KVH) South focuses on reenactments of wartime events that took place in Slovakia during WW2 and while its activities take place in the Nitra region, it also closely cooperates with affiliated military history clubs from both Slovakia and abroad, club's chair Marian Holka has told TASR.
"Our goal is to acquire and restore original, authentic equipment or create faithful replicas. We also organize exhibitions of armaments and gear used by armies during WW2," claimed Holka.
Registered as a civic association since October 2019, KVH South was founded by a group of friends sharing a deeper interest in history, particularly of the WW2 era. The club currently has only five members. "In general, membership numbers have dropped in almost all clubs. The main reason was legislative changes to the firearms and ammunition legislation. Each member had to obtain a gun license or get rid of their weapons—either sell them or place them into police custody. Membership numbers also declined during the COVID period," Holka explained.
Members of KVH South have Slovak, German, and Soviet uniforms, along with the corresponding weapons and gear. According to Holka, wartime originals can be purchased at various military markets and bazaars. "The acoustic blank-firing weapons we use are properly registered with the police, and every club member holds a firearms license. All of them are authentic."
