Bratislava, April 12 (TASR) - A total of 752 Slovaks went bankrupt in March, the highest number seen so far this year, according to an analysis published by CRIF–Slovak Credit Bureau, which manages the credit registries of banking and non-banking houses. This is a 31-percent increase when compared to the previous March, when the number of Slovaks falling into bankruptcy amounted to 573. The company's analysis further showed that 1,726 personal bankruptcies were declared in the first quarter of this year, down 15 percent from the 2,047 declared in the first quarter of 2024. "The highest proportion of debtors were of productive age, most of them aged between 30-39 for both genders. They made up almost 29 percent of all bankruptcies in March. When compared to March 2024, there were 3 percent fewer debtors in their thirties," said the company. According to the company, 479 men went bankrupt in March, accounting for almost 64 percent of the total number. For both genders personal bankruptcy is resorted to overwhelmingly by people with only primary and secondary education, with their share as high as 97 percent in March. Only 16 men and seven women with university education filed for bankruptcy. Almost 90 percent (737) of debtors opted for bankruptcy, while the rest (15) opted for instalment calendars. "Of the total number of bankruptcies declared in March, 676 (almost 90 percent) were declared for the assets of private individuals and 76 for the assets of entrepreneurs," added CRIF senior analyst Jana Markova. ko/df/lin
