Slovak Society of General Practical Medicine Rejects So-called COVID Amnesty

15. apríla 2025 18:09
Bratislava, April 15 (TASR) - The Slovak Society of General Practical Medicine fundamentally rejects the approval of a law on compensation for fines imposed for violating measures during the COVID-19 pandemic, and it is asking President Peter Pellegrini to use his constitutional power to veto the legislation, TASR was told by the society's committee on Tuesday. According to the society, the approved law calls into question the anti-pandemic measures that were necessary at the time to protect people's health. It also denigrates the authority of state and health-care organisations, setting a dangerous precedent for future epidemics and pandemics in which substantial measures will also have to be taken. The society warned that failure to veto the law will cause irreversible and irreparable damage to people's health and lives. am/df
