Bratislava, April 16 (TASR) - Many entrepreneurs are currently highlighting how they have to pay thousands of euros each month in transaction tax, money that could otherwise go towards employee salaries, Progressive Slovakia (PS) stated at a press conference on Wednesday, offering Slovak National Party (SNS) chairman Andrej Danko the signatures of its MPs needed to convene a special parliamentary session to abolish the tax.
"Andrej Danko stated that he wants to either abolish or amend the transaction tax," noted Michal Truban (PS), who is calling for the process to be accelerated. "We'll provide him with the signatures needed to call a special session that could lead to the abolition of the transaction tax. We can abolish it right now," said Truban, urging Danko to do this before the summer.
PS leader Michal Simecka stressed that three factories in Slovakia have shut down in the past two days, resulting in job losses for hundreds of people who may struggle to find new employment in the current difficult economic climate. He stated that Slovak businesses are facing challenges not only due to the transaction tax but also because of the negative impact of US tariffs.
