Kosice, April 16 (TASR) - The Interior Ministry has launched eDoklady (eDocuments) and eIdentita (eIdentity) mobile applications, Interior Minister Matus Sutaj Estok (Voice-SD) told a news conference in Kosice on Wednesday. In the first stage, they will serve as an electronic version of identity cards and driving licences, for mobile login to the slovensko.sk website, and for identity verification at selected post offices, said Sutaj Estok, adding that later they could also be a tool for people to communicate with the private sector. The mobile applications were put in operation after an almost four-month testing stage. The eDoklady application should serve as a digital wallet. It's currently possible to use electronic ID and driving licences through it, mainly in contact with the police. At the moment 700 readers are available to them, but their number should increase. "Verification is currently being carried out online, meaning that there must be an internet connection for the reader to confirm digital identity. We're working to ensure that this solution will also work offline, i.e. without an internet connection, by the end of this year," said the minister. Interior Ministry State Secretary Patrik Krauspe said that in addition to the Slovak Post Office, the ministry has signed a memorandum with passenger rail carrier ZSSK and the Slovak Insurance Companies Association. It's also holding negotiations with the Slovak Banking Association, the Association of Mobile Operators, the Slovak Association of Public Transport Companies and the Slovak Tourism Association. The eIdentita mobile application is used to log in to already available state digital services. ko/df
