Bratislava, April 17 (TASR) - A relative of a patient brandishing a sword threatened to slash and kill staff at Antolska Hospital in Bratislava's borough of Petrzalka on Thursday morning, Bratislava University Hospital (UNB) has reported on a social network. The aggressive man was detained by the police. Nobody was harmed during the incident. "The staff remained cool-headed in this tense and dangerous situation, immediately calling the police and the hospital's security service," wrote the hospital. According to the hospital, one doctor managed to get the attacker out of the ward, where there were other staff and patients. "The aggressive man left the hospital building and was subsequently detained by the police. Eye-witnesses of the incident are currently testifying to the police," added UNB. UNB director Alexander Mayer noted that verbal attacks and threats by patients' relatives are constantly escalating. "I'm asking relatives of patients not to attack our doctors or nurses, as their work is extremely demanding, and I'm positive that each and every one of them is doing their utmost to save the life of your relative or cure him or her," said Mayer. At the same time, the UNB director thanked health-care professionals for their dedication and courageous approach when facing challenging situations in which their own lives are at risk. ko/df
