Bratislava, April 17 (TASR) - Slovak President Peter Pellegrini has paid a fine for violating the election campaign law, his spokesperson Patricia Medved Macikova confirmed for TASR on Thursday.
It was TV Markiza that broke the story first, stating that the fine of €10,000 was imposed by the Interior Ministry.
"Peter Pellegrini received a decision to impose a fine in relation with his election campaign. Acknowledging his mistake, he did not appeal the verdict and promptly paid the fine," said the spokesperson.
According to TV Markiza, the fine is related to a payment by the Voice-SD party to the president’s transparent account after the campaign had ended, which is not permitted by law.
