Young Girl Dies in Car Accident Between Medzibrod and Slovenska Lupca

Banska Bystrica, April 22 (TASR) - A traffic accident that occurred Monday afternoon between Medzibrod and Slovenska Lupca (both Banska Bystrica region) resulted in the death of a minor girl and left several others seriously injured, with police reporting on social media that the circumstances and degree of fault are under investigation. The operator of the 155 emergency line dispatched four emergency medical service ambulances to the scene of head-on collision of two passenger cars. "According to initial information, there were several injured persons at the scene, including children," he explained. A rescue helicopter was also deployed to the accident site. Spokesperson of the Air Transport Europe (ATE) helicopter emergency medical service Zuzana Hopjakova, stated that the rescue helicopter crew took over the care of a minor patient who was already being resuscitated by paramedics at the scene. The doctor joined the advanced resuscitation efforts. "Despite providing maximum care and effort, it wasn't possible to restore her vital functions," she said, adding that the girl succumbed to her extensive injuries at the scene. The spokeswoman further stated that the crew continued providing medical care to another person, a 42-year-old woman who sustained a chest injury in the collision. She was treated at the scene and, after being stabilised, was transferred via the helicopter and transported to a hospital in Banska Bystrica. lin
