Government to Deal with Declaring Day of State Mourning

Bratislava, April 23 (TASR) - The Cabinet led by Robert Fico (Smer-SD) will meet at its regular session following a two-week break on Wednesday. The government will deal with declaring a day of state mourning on Saturday (April 26) when the funeral of Pope Francis should take place. The state mourning could be declared from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The Cabinet is also set to approve a proposal to ensure the participation of Slovak athletes in next year's Winter Olympics and Paralympics and this year's Deaflympics. The expenses on the Olympics and Paralympics are estimated at over €1.8 million. Vice-premier for Recovery and Resilience Plan Peter Kmec (Voice-SD) should become a new member of the Government Council for Competitiveness and Productivity. This stems from a proposal by the Economy Ministry due to be discussed at the session as well. The Cabinet will also deal with the informative report on uncovering and combatting illegal labour for 2024. ko
