Sutaj Estok: I Respect Investigation Results of Internal Affairs Inspectorate

Bratislava, April 23 (TASR) - Interior Minister Matus Sutaj Estok (Voice-SD) has called on the public and politicians to respect the conclusions of the Internal Affairs Inspectorate (UIS), which has decided to halt the criminal prosecution in the case of the actions taken by Prime Minister Robert Fico's (Smer-SD) security detail during the assassination attempt on him last May and in the case of the leaked video of the detained attacker Juraj C. Speaking before Wednesday's session of the government, Sutaj Estok rejected any effort to cast aspersions on UIS's decision. "I respect the results of the UIS investigation," the minister declared, stressing that during the investigation into the leaked video it was necessary to prove who released it on social media. "That could not be proven," he pointed out in relation to the termination of the investigation. He also rejected what he sees as "attacks by political losers" against UIS and questioning of the security detail's actions during the assassination attempt. Vice-premier and Environment Minister Tomas Taraba (an SNS nominee) stated that the UIS's conclusion — that the security detail did not make a mistake — is good news. However, Investment, Regional Development and Informatisation Minister Samuel Migal (Independent) said that he still has questions and wants to ask the Interior Minister about certain unclear issues. "If an assassination attempt has happened, then some mistakes must have been made," he said. He also has questions regarding the video leak. "Someone made the video, someone published it, and it is strange that they couldn't find out who it was," he remarked. mf/df
