Bratislava, Arpil 23 (TASR) - The opposition Christian Democrats (KDH) have criticised the Health Ministry, led by the Voice-SD party, for being incompetent and lacking interest in patients, referring to alleged negotiations over the new university hospital in Bratislava and claiming that Minister Kamil Šaško (Hlas-SD) shows no willingness to engage in roundtable discussions, urging him to explain all decisions made so far and to seek broader political consensus, KDH's communications department said on Wednesday.
"At KDH, our main concern is the well-being of patients, who urgently need a new hospital. The quickest solution is to build it at Razsochy, as the site already has the EIA environmental approval and the land has been expropriated specifically for this project — otherwise, it would have to be returned to its original owners. The Voice-SD party is failing to deliver for Slovak patients and is denying them access to a top-quality hospital in the capital," said MP Peter Stachura (KDH).
According to MP Frantisek Majersky (KDH), Health Minister Kamil Sasko has remained silent for a long time regarding the national hospital project in Bratislava. He criticised Sasko for making "public decisions in private, without discussion, without oversight, and without shame".
The Health Minister stated last week that the decision on the final location for the new national university hospital in Bratislava is expected later this month. The construction of a new national university hospital was originally planned for the area of Razsochy in Bratislava. The government later approved construction in the Bratislava borough of Ruzinov.
