Year-Round Bus Service from Stary Smokovec to Zakopane Starts Operations

Zakopane/Vysoke Tatry, April 23 (TASR) - A new bus route has connected Slovakia's High Tatras with Poland providing year-round service in both directions, operated by Malopolska Railways in cooperation with Presov Self-Governing Region, TASR has learnt from its special correspondent in Warsaw. As of Tuesday, April 22, the Stary Smokovec - Zakopane - Koscielisko - Chocholow route started operating, ensuring year-round service in both directions. The launch of the route followed nine years of efforts by the Poland-Slovakia-Buses initiative. According to its coordinator, Jakub Loginov, the project faced indifference from Polish local governments, legal and bureaucratic obstacles, and was only made possible after a 2019 amendment to Slovakia's road transport law, which allowed regions to organise cross-border services and simplified the process. The A15 route is the fifth operational cross-border bus route between Slovakia and Poland, with more to follow. lin
