Bratislava, April 24 (TASR) - Protest rallies are being held in several cities and towns across Slovakia and abroad on Thursday evening, with the public also protesting against the amendment to the law on non-governmental organisations. Protests have been organised in Bratislava, Banska Bystrica, Kosice, Lucenec (Banska Bystrica region), Trnava and Liptovsky Mikulas (Zilina region). During the protest in Bratislava, the organisers want to call on President Peter Pellegrini not to sign the amendment to the NGO Act, claiming that the amendment threatens independent organisations and civil society in Slovakia. "Before the start of the march, it will be possible to sign a public letter to the president, which will then be symbolically carried in front of the Presidential Palace," said 'Peace to Ukraine' organisation, adding that the letter will be officially delivered to the President's Office on Friday (April 25). Protest rallies are also planned in several cities and towns in Slovakia on Friday. am
