Budapest/Bratislava, April 25 (TASR) - Slovak Health Minister Kamil Sasko (Voice-SD) met Hungarian Interior Minister Sandor Pinter and State Secretary for Health Peter Takacs in Budapest on Friday to discuss cooperation in the health-care sector, with the talks focusing primarily on cross-border projects, TASR learnt from the ministry's press department on the same day. Since 2022, the Hungarian Interior Ministry has been responsible for managing health care in Hungary. For this reason, the Hungarian interior minister and the state secretary for Health were the counterparts in the talks on health-care issues. One of the main issues at the meeting was a proposed framework agreement on cross-border cooperation in emergency medical services between Slovakia and Hungary. The first draft of the agreement has already been sent to the Hungarian side, and Slovakia is currently awaiting feedback. "I'm convinced that concluding this agreement will significantly facilitate and speed up emergency services in border areas, thereby not only making our cooperation more effective but especially contributing to the protection of the health and lives of citizens of both countries," explained Sasko. Other subjects of discussion included health-care digitisation and cooperation between the two countries in hospital and emergency care. During the talks, the two sides also touched on Hungary's Presidency of the Visegrad Group (V4: the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia) and a planned memorandum of understanding on cross-border development. mf/df
