Bratislava, April 26 (TASR) - A science event called 'Science Slam' is scheduled to take place in Slovakia next week in which scientists from the Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAV) will have to present their research in just a few minutes, SAV spokeswoman Monika Tinakova has told TASR, adding that the public will thus be able to experience science live and in an entertaining way.
According to the spokeswoman, Science Slam shows that science doesn't have to be tedious, but can be engaging, funny and, above all, understandable for everyone. "We want to bring science closer to people. Science Slam SAV is an opportunity to show that even complicated issues can be explained simply and with humour," said event organiser Filip Kveton from the SAV Institute of Chemistry.
Six researchers will present their projects. Each presentation will be eight minutes long. There will be talks on the bio-implant of the future, the world of disease diagnosis using sugars and the climate crisis. The audience will also be introduced to alcoholic rats, learn about their own altruism and take part in the search for efficient computers.
The winner will be decided by the audience.
