PS: Slovakia Isolated, Premier Fico's Only Ally Viktor Orban

Bratislava, April 28 (TASR) - Slovakia is isolated, with Premier Robert Fico (Smer-SD) having almost no international partners, the only exception being Hungarian Premier Viktor Orban, stated representatives of the opposition Progressive Slovakia (PS) party at a press conference on Monday, with PS leader Michal Simecka adding that Fico's Sunday (April 27) press conference revealed his coalition is falling apart and that he's politically "finished".
"This government shows the same amateurism in foreign policy. I also feel that it's at its end. Perhaps there was an attempt at some grand game with Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin at the beginning, but that has fallen apart. Today, the Slovak premier is alone, isolated, and essentially has only one partner left. The one who is coming to visit Bratislava on Monday [Viktor Orban]," said Simecka.
According to PS presidium member Ivan Korcok, the current Slovak government's foreign policy is neither sovereign nor proud. "We can confidently say that it's incapable of properly protecting and promoting Slovakia's interests," he remarked.
Korcok also criticised the meeting between Fico and the Hungarian premier saying, "The Hungarian premier, who is coming here, is someone we know considers Donald Trump his next strongest ally. Trump, who imposes tariffs and is literally destroying global trade," he said adding that Fico and Orban would find common ground, as neither sees the European Union as the most important space, but rather as the source of "all problems".
