Raz: NDS Currently Repairing Sixteen Motorway Bridges

Bratislava, April 28 (TASR) - The National Highway Company (NDS) started reconstruction of seven motorway bridges at the beginning of the year, with repairs continuing on another nine as of April 2025, Transport Minister Jozef Raz (a Smer-SD nominee) told a press conference on Monday, with NDS director general Filip Machacek in attendance. Last year, the company managed to repair 32 motorway bridges, with seven of them undergoing comprehensive repairs. "Since the beginning of this year, repairs have been or are currently being carried out on strategic bridges across Slovakia. Seven of them are located in western Slovakia, seven in central Slovakia and two in the east," said Raz, adding that the repairs of motorway bridges will cost around €4 million this year. "The National Highway Company has 874 bridges in its management with a total length of almost 120 kilometres, these bridges are regularly monitored by major technical inspections. Last year, 200 such inspections were carried out. It is also thanks to the fact that my colleagues are dedicated to regular inspections of our bridges that we are able to keep the vast majority of them in a technically good condition," stated Machacek. am/mcs
