Rasi Believes Similar Projects Like MPS Will Also Be Created in Regional Cities

Bratislava, April 28 (TASR) - I believe that similar projects such as the Model Parliament of Slovakia (MPS) will also be created in regional cities, Parliamentary Chair Richard Rasi (Voice-SD) stated in his address during an MPS session in Parliament on Monday. "When I look at you today, you are my hope that we can bridge these difficult times. During the previous days you've learnt parliamentary skills, you've tried working in committees or how to draft laws, you've learnt the principles of correct political and professional communication. I really wish from the bottom of my heart that many of you will return to this chamber as MPs one day," he said, addressing 150 high school students from all over Slovakia. During Monday's debate, both MPs and members of the government answered the students' questions. Sebestyen Marosz, the head of the civic association that set up the MPS, pointed to the tensions and divisions in society and in Parliament. "It is we young people who have to be the ones to draw a thick line behind this tension and hatred, we have to show that politics can be done differently, with respect, with humanity and with the knowledge that the one on the other side is first and foremost a human being, not an enemy," he pointed out, adding that if society continues to get used to insults and keeps being silent, he'll lose hope that Slovakia will be a country where people can unite. The MPS has been simulating the work of MPs between Friday (April 25) and Monday. am/mcs
