Bratislava, April 29 (TASR) - 'Slovakia' party has called on the leaders of other opposition parties to travel together to Kyiv on May 9 to show solidarity with the victims of war, with leader Igor Matovic stating at Tuesday's press conference that they should go while Premier Robert Fico (Smer-SD) visits Moscow, which he called an international disgrace.
"We should show that Slovakia isn't just Fico, but also people who stand with the victims of Putin's war," said Matovic. He reminded that the only EU leader traveling to Moscow is the Slovak premier. "Let's go to Kyiv together as the entire opposition while Fico brings shame to us in Moscow and clearly show that we stand with the victims of the war," stated Matovic.
Fico plans to attend the 80th anniversary celebrations of the end of the Second World War in Moscow. He has stated that he wants to pay tribute to the thousands of Red Army soldiers who died during the liberation of Slovakia, as well as to the millions of other victims of the "Nazi frenzy." The opposition has criticised him for this and is urging him to cancel the trip.
