'Slovakia' Party MPs Commemorate Anniversary of Robert Remias' Murder

Bratislava, April 29 (TASR) - MPs for the opposition 'Slovakia' party on Tuesday afternoon honoured the memory of police officer Robert Remias, who was murdered 29 years ago, pointing out that the perpetrators of the murder must be justly punished, not only those who installed the explosive in Remias' car, but also those who ordered it. "I'm convinced that the then government was behind the ordering of Robert Remias' murder. If it were otherwise, the people who ordered the murder would have been brought to justice long ago and would have been justly punished," said MP Gabor Grendel, adding that he's convinced that justice will eventually find the perpetrators. "The hope for justice also comes from the experience of the previous election term. If the investigators have their hands free, sooner or later the perpetrators will be brought to justice," he noted. Remias died on April 29, 1996, in the explosion of his own car. The former police officer served as an intermediary between Oskar Fegyveres, the former Slovak Intelligence Service (SIS) agent and witness to Michal Kovac's kidnapping, and former journalist Peter Toth. The police investigation into the murder is still ongoing. am
